Department Overview

Foundation of Medicine

The Department of Rachana Sharira focuses on the study of Human Anatomy, laying the foundation for future Ayurvedic physicians and surgeons. We integrate modern scientific concepts comprising gross anatomy, microscopic anatomy, neuroanatomy, and embryology with traditional Ayurvedic principles.

Quick Fact
Did you know?

"Sushruta described 300 bones, 210 joints, and 107 vital points (Marmas) over 2,500 years ago! The Marma points are now recognized as key areas in acupressure and martial arts traditions worldwide."

Our curriculum emphasizes hands-on dissection and exploration of the human body to foster a deeper understanding of anatomical structures and their relationships. We also focus on research in anatomical variations and Marma Vigyan.

Key Focus Areas
  • Gross Anatomy & Dissection: Hands-on exploration of the human body.
  • Ayurvedic Concepts: Marma (Vital points), Srotas (Channels), and Garbha Sharira (Embryology).
  • Clinical Application: Integrating radiological and surface anatomy for clinical practice.
